My opinion:
To me, this information tells me the possibilities that could have happened between Disney (an animation, tv-series and motion picture studio and much more), one of the major produces of films and shows, would have likely been accessible with iPads, iPhones etc, if there was an emergence of these two companies,.. one the highest animated and live-action film company distributing to apple products instead of television, may have happened, if it had it could have completely changed the way we distribute programs now.
This tells me that there are new advancements coming with streaming, that may increase its popularity. Disney is a very popular production company, that meets the needs of multiple age groups, and is considered entertainment for all ages. It has been well known that it's hard to access Disney animated films unless you have a disc or bought the film digitally. Now that Disney going to be more accessible via streaming, I think it's going to increase its attractiveness to younger audiences, defiantly children and adolescents and young adults.
This research shows me the advancement and attractiveness of streaming, which is an internet source.
Therefore, is a point for the internet/streaming.
Quotes:
'Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed Wednesday that Apple and Disney likely could have merged if Steve Jobs had not died in 2011.'
'Iger discussed his collaboration with Jobs, with Disney being one of the first to venture into the video streaming world by offering five shows on the video iPod when it first came out. Iger even told Jobs about his idea for an “iTunes platform for television, ‘iTV,’ as I described it.” '
'Apple TV+ debuts on November 1, with Disney’s own streaming service, Disney+, following on November 12.
